Google in the Moon
Google is teaming since september 2007 with the X Prize foundation to launch a commercial race to the Moon with a $30 million incentive. To win the Google Lunar X PRIZE, a team must successfully land a privately funded craft on the lunar surface and survive long enough to complete the mission goals of roaming about the lunar surface for at least 500 meters and sending a defined data package, called a “Mooncast”, back to Earth.

0n FT Predict (Financial Times Predict), the games are openned. The Google Lunar X Prise to be won before 2012 can be bet on or off. It is a volatile value.
A quite different subject than the usual prediction games of FT.com like the pakistani national election date or the possible US + Israel Air Strike over Iran prediction date for 2008...
Google Moon already exist. Images are from the NASA, as well as for Google Space. But if you look for Google Lunar, everything is not ready.
If interested, you can join and apply for a job on the moon, at he Google Copernicus Hosting Environment and Experiment in Search Engineering (GCHEESE) !
By Locating a research and technology center on The Moon (Googlunaplex), Google engineers will be able to experiment with an entirely different set of parameters and conditions.
The Googlunaplex will house 35 engineers, 27,000 low cost web servers, 2 massage therapists and a sushi chef formerly employed by the pop group Hanson.

WAZHUA community : a MyBlogLog for the Chinese blogosphere
A new online comunity , Wazhua (^_^), is changing the way people blog and interacts through the web in China and elsewhere. Developped by Simon Chan, Wazhua looks like MyBlogLog, but with an extra "manga" style. KmLabs has uploaded the interface in the right menu, at the "SocioBlogology" section, under the MyBlogLog widget. See the KM Labs Washua profile here.
.
By the way, "Knowledge Management" in Chinese is : 知识管理 (simplified chinese) or in traditional chinese : 知識管理

About Complex Event Processing Systems
CEP Complex Event Processing Principle :
An introduction to Complex event processing networks (from Stanford university).
A Time Line representation (from MIT Institue)
Google Earth and similar applications
In Google Earth, models are realistic real world models.. Mostly models of the natural and physical world.
Real Time Traffic
Earth Temperature Monitor
Other Virtual Reality Technologies
Second Life
In Second Life , the natural and physical systems of the planet will be represented . Thanks to the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA). Dubbed Meteora, the Earth System Research Lab could become a 3-D laboratory as well as an open meeting place for scientific symposia. Second Life has also a new search engine : Sloog
Digital Earth
Digital Earth was the label given to a visionary concept, made popular in 1998 by former US vice president Al Gore, for describing a virtual representation of the Earth on the Internet that is spatially referenced and interconnected with the world’s digital knowledge archives. Keyhole Technology, Inc. (later purchased in 2004 by Google for Google Maps) was contracted to develop and demonstrate the first full globe 3-D interactive Digital Earth using web-stream data from distributed database located on servers around the planet. A concerted effort within the UN community through the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), via the Geographic Information Working Group (UNGIWG), followed immediately, including purchase of early Keyhole systems by 2002. Today, Digital Earth is an international collaboration project, and China wants to play a major role forming a non-profit entity from the Chinese Academy of Sciences to host the international secretariat of the International Society on Digital Earth
The MetaVerse RoadMap
The MetaVerse project is a World Wide Collaborative Virtual Reality Project.
Virtual's Worlds Inputs are solicited in four topic areas: I. Industry Conditions, II. Forecasts, III. Issues and Questions, and IV. Problems and Indicators. These were divided into nineteen categories, from History to Progress Indicators. Each was also considered in three subcategories: A. Technology and Science, B. Business and Economics, or C. Social, Legal and Other domains. This is an adaptation of the Foresight Framework Model of Dr. Peter Bishop, chair of the Futures Studies masters program at the University of Houston . Who controls Internet ?
The main actors of Internet regulation are mainly american :
- ICANN (International Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) : manage the distribution and use of the adress (Dns adresses (http:// ...) and IP adresses) : the adressing system.
- Iana (Internet Assigned Numbers Authority) : controls numbers for protocols, the Country Code Top Level Domains for US (.edu, .mil) and maintains the IP Address allotments.
- Verisign : private amercian company in charge of the technical management of the whole infrastructure service
...then into ICANN, several organisations to highlight :
- ASO (Address Supporting Organization) : responsible for reviewing and developing recommendations on IP address policy ..working in collaboration with the RIR (Regional Internet Registries).
- ARIN (American Registry for Internet Numbers) : responsible for the IP adresses in North America
- RIPE NCC (Network Coordination Centre) : responsible for the IP adresses in Europe
- APNIC (Asia Pacific Network Information Centre) : responsible for the IP adresses in Asia
- LACNIC (Latin American and Caribbean Information Centre) : responsible for the IP adresses in South America
- ccNSO (Country Code Name Supporting Organization) : for national domain names (.fr, .it, ..) with the ccTLD Registries
- gNSO (Generic Name Supporting Organization) : for global domain names (.com, .net…) with the gTLD Registries
- Registrars : accredited domain names sellers
- RSSAC (Root Server System Advisory Committee)
Technical Engineering and Management
- W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) : normalisation multimedia languages like html
- ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute) : normalisation telecommunication norms
- ITU (International Telecommunications Union) : United nations Agency
- IETF – Internet Engineering Task Force : architecture and technical recommandations for the internet
Internet Society representation
- ISOC (Internet Society)
- ALAC (At-Large Advisory Council) : elected members to represent internet users

Geosystems + supercomputing
The concept of Earth Simulator, installed in Japan in march 2002 to run holistic simulations of global climate could be extended to other "world systems", (economic, social, human systems...) for "time forecasts" and prospective analysis
Applications already exists in some domains, but these statistics are not yet accessible to the public.
...
Supercomputing is already largely repanded (see the top500) in the World.
..
Everybody can participate with his own pc to social computing , for instance with the World Grid to give power and energy to the Human Proteome Folding, fight against AIDS, virtual reality, search engines, ...

Encore d'autres produits surprenants a decouvrir :
Cisco Telepresence, La Wii, l'AudioPad...
